ETHICS, INTEGRITY &
COMMUNITY STANDARDS

At Centro Espiritual Luz Divina Church Inc, spiritual practice and ethical responsibility are inseparable.

Our Church maintains formal standards of conduct designed to protect the dignity, safety, privacy, and spiritual well-being of every member of our community.

Our Community Code of Conduct & Ethical Standards establishes clear expectations for participants, members, volunteers, leaders, directors, and others serving in positions of trust.

Our Ethical Commitments

We are committed to:

  • Respecting the dignity, autonomy, and personal boundaries of every participant;

  • Maintaining clear standards of consent and appropriate physical contact;

  • Protecting confidentiality and personal spiritual experiences;

  • Preventing abuse, exploitation, harassment, coercion, retaliation, and misuse of authority;

  • Maintaining honesty, accountability, and responsible leadership;

  • Protecting the sacred and non-commercial nature of the sacrament;

  • Supporting responsible health and safety screening;

  • Maintaining clear reporting channels for ethical or safety concerns; and

  • Reviewing concerns fairly, respectfully, and without predetermined conclusions.

Responsibility Increases With Authority

At Luz Divina, leadership is understood as service.

The greater a person’s authority, access, or influence — and the greater another person’s vulnerability — the greater the ethical responsibility of the person holding that position.

Founders, directors, spiritual leaders, volunteers, committee members, and longstanding members are all accountable to the standards that apply to their roles.

No title, personal relationship, donation, seniority, or spiritual position places anyone above the ethical standards of the Church.

Consent, Safety & Personal Boundaries

Participation in our religious practices is voluntary.

Members may ask questions, decline the sacrament, decline non-emergency physical contact, or request assistance without punishment or ridicule.

Consent must be voluntary, specific, and ongoing.

A person’s emotional openness, gratitude, vulnerability, or altered state during a ceremony is never treated as permission for sexual, romantic, financial, or other exploitative conduct.

Protecting Our Community

Every member has a voice and a responsibility in protecting the integrity and well-being of our community.

If you experience, witness, or become aware of conduct that compromises the safety, dignity, personal boundaries, or spiritual integrity of another member or of our community, we encourage you to bring your concern to Church leadership through the established channels.

All concerns raised in good faith are taken seriously and addressed with appropriate care, discretion, and respect.

Accountability & Fair Review

When an ethical concern is raised, the Church follows an established internal process designed to promote fairness, confidentiality, accountability, and protection from retaliation.

Significant ethical concerns may be reviewed by the Ethics Committee, which evaluates relevant information and provides findings and recommendations.

Final institutional decisions are made through the appropriate Church governance process.

When appropriate, responses may include education, restorative measures, behavioral conditions, temporary restrictions, suspension, removal from responsibilities, or other proportionate corrective measures.

A Structured Religious Community

Centro Espiritual Luz Divina maintains a formal governance and accountability structure that includes:

  • A Board of Directors;

  • Spiritual leadership;

  • An Ethics Committee;

  • Health and safety screening procedures;

  • Sacramental stewardship and control protocols;

  • Confidentiality and privacy standards;

  • Conflict-of-interest requirements;

  • Retreat and ceremony rules; and

  • Safety and emergency procedures.

These systems exist to support the responsible practice of our faith and the well-being of our community.

Our Shared Commitment

We believe that a sacred community is sustained not only through ceremony, but through the way we treat one another.

Respect the Sanctuary.
Respect the Sacrament.
Respect Yourself.
Respect Each Other.
